Requirements
Must have:
- We require a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
- We require 2 to 4 years of professional engineering experience.
- We need the ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
- We expect knowledge of problem-solving methods and engineering theory.
- We require familiarity with engineering designs, principles, and practices.
- We require general knowledge of regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices relevant to a specific discipline or installation type.
- Preferred: graduate study in Engineering, Business Administration, or a Project Management certification.
- Preferred: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Preferred: strong written and verbal communication, presentation, report writing, and technical documentation skills.
- Preferred: strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with peers and managers.
- Preferred: consulting and needs-assessment capabilities.
- Preferred: working knowledge of analysis software such as CYMDIST, PSS/E, Python, PLS-CAD, Pole Foreman, Power BI, or similar tools.
Responsibilities:
- We independently carry out technical assignments under the direction of an experienced engineer, including collecting data, performing advanced analysis, interpreting findings, and presenting recommendations to management.
- We perform engineering work for large initiatives or multiple smaller projects, including complex power flow analysis, engineering testing, and evaluation of ambiguous results.
- We may lead engineering tasks for major or smaller projects, validating studies, blueprints, and designs against accepted engineering standards and practices.
- We design high-voltage transmission and distribution circuits in line with engineering criteria and standards.
- We assess the effectiveness of current technical systems and processes and contribute as part of cross-functional teams.
- We support the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of utility infrastructure across electric or gas distribution, transmission, substations, and related systems.
- We complete engineering studies, technical calculations, specifications, permitting, work packages, and performance evaluations to support safety, reliability, and compliance.
- We analyze electric, gas, and communications system performance, including outage data.
- We identify and help implement improvements to safety, reliability, and grid performance.
- We support cost estimating, budgeting, and integrated system planning.
- We collaborate with engineering, operations, construction, and external partners.
- We conduct field inspections and support project execution.
- We may work extended hours during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
