Intern, Technology - Data Engineering
Job description
Technology – Data Engineering - Intern
Kroll is a global leader in Risk and Financial Advisory services, operating at the intersection of data, technology, and complex decision-making. We are seeking a high-performing Data Engineering Intern to help build and scale the data infrastructure that powers analytics, automation, and AI across the firm. This role is for candidates who want real engineering responsibility, not shadow work.
You will design and implement production-grade data pipelines, work with cloud-native tooling, and partner with senior engineers and data scientists on systems that matter.
At Kroll, your work will help deliver clarity to our clients’ most complex governance, risk, and transparency challenges. Apply now to join One team, One Kroll.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain scalable, reliable data pipelines supporting analytics, reporting, and AI workloads
- Engineer data ingestion and transformation workflows across structured and semi-structured sources
- Implement data models and quality controls to ensure accuracy, consistency, and performance
- Deploy and monitor data workflows in cloud environments, with an emphasis on reliability and observability
- Optimize existing pipelines for performance, cost, and maintainability
- Contribute to technical documentation and design discussions with senior engineers
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a closely related technical field
- Graduation date between December 2026 and September 2027
- Strong command of SQL and at least one programming language (Python preferred)
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and systems fundamentals
- Experience building data pipelines or backend systems through coursework, research, or personal projects
- Comfort working in cloud environments
- Clear technical communication and the ability to reason about trade-offs
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Familiarity with modern data stacks (ETL/ELT pipelines, orchestration, data warehouses/lakes)
- Experience with version control, CI/CD, or infrastructure-as-code concepts
- Exposure to BI or analytics tooling (e.g., Power BI)
- Prior internship or demonstrable project work showing ownership of production-quality systems
- Work on real systems in production, not toy problems
- Learn how enterprise-scale data platforms are designed, operated, and evolved
- Direct mentorship from senior engineers and data leaders
- Meaningful impact on firm-wide analytics and automation initiatives
- A high-bar engineering environment focused on quality, scale, and long-term thinking
Your recruiter will be happy to walk you through your U.S.-specific benefits, which include:
- Healthcare Coverage: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans.
- Time Off and Leave Policies: Generous paid time off (PTO), paid company holidays, generous parental and family leave.
- Protective Insurances: Life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, and accident protection.
