Java Backend Developer| Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Java Backend Developer with strong expertise in Java, Kafka, Cassandra, Spring Boot, and microservices to support software development in a remote, full-time role. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience with backend technologies, event-driven systems, cloud platforms, and non-relational databases.

This role requires a collaborative and consulting-oriented mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with business customers, architects, and technical teams in a dynamic Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain backend software using Java, Core Java, and advanced Java technologies.

• Design and support microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Work hands-on with Kafka Connect, Kafka messaging, and event streams.
• Write and maintain JUnit test cases to support software quality and reliability.
• Work with cloud platforms such as PCF and AWS.
• Work with NoSQL and non-relational databases, including Cassandra and MongoDB.
• Apply knowledge of document databases and evaluate appropriate database technologies based on application requirements.
• Work with OpenShift and Kubernetes environments.
• Participate in Agile methodologies, including estimation techniques and key Agile ceremonies.
• Collaborate with business customers, architects, and team members to support technical and business objectives.
• Contribute to client transformation goals through an engineering and consulting mindset.
• Learn and adopt new technologies as required in a fast-paced development environment.

Required Qualifications

10 years of experience with Java, Core Java, and advanced Java concepts and technologies.

• Strong software development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka Connect and Kafka messaging/event streams.
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.
• Experience writing JUnit test cases.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as PCF and AWS.
• Experience with NoSQL and non-relational databases, particularly Cassandra.
• Strong understanding of MongoDB and non-relational document databases.
• Expertise in OpenShift and Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of Agile methodology, estimation techniques, and key Agile ceremonies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in consulting-oriented software development environments.

• Ability to evaluate and determine when to use different NoSQL and document database technologies.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing technical requirements.
