About The Role

TCS is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, develop, and improve automated testing solutions for multi-tier, distributed web applications. Based in Sunnyvale, California, this role combines software engineering practices with quality engineering expertise. You will build scalable automation frameworks, create reusable test components, and support end-to-end and API testing throughout the software delivery lifecycle.

The successful candidate is comfortable working with modern JavaScript and TypeScript technologies, understands application architecture, and takes ownership of framework development and deliverables. This position is suited to an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and helping teams deliver reliable applications.

Qualifications

Applicants should have experience in enterprise application development and quality engineering, particularly developing automation frameworks. A strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms, is required. Candidates should understand object-oriented programming and have hands-on experience with TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), and Node.js.

Practical knowledge of Playwright, Page Object Model, test framework architecture, end-to-end testing, and API testing is expected.

Successful candidates will also bring experience with cloud infrastructure and distributed web applications, along with a solid understanding of web services, REST APIs, XML, JSON, HTTP, SSL, TCP/IP, browser automation, and application performance testing.

Experience using databases such as MongoDB or other data stores for test data management is valuable. Familiarity with Java, REST, or Spring is also relevant to this opportunity. Candidates should be able to explain the value of test-driven development, continuous integration, and automated testing best practices. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently and maintain a keen focus on quality.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and maintainable test automation frameworks for enterprise applications. Build reusable test components and data-driven testing pipelines that support efficient test coverage across application layers. Create and maintain automated end-to-end and API tests using Playwright, TypeScript, JavaScript, and related Node.js technologies.

Apply Page Object

Model principles and sound framework architecture to keep test suites clear, extensible, and maintainable.

Integrate automated testing into continuous integration workflows and collaborate with development, quality, and other technology teams to identify risks early. Use databases and data stores to organize and manage test data. Investigate test failures, diagnose application or framework issues, and communicate findings clearly.

Contribute to performance testing and quality engineering practices, take ownership of assigned framework deliverables, and recommend improvements that increase test reliability and support effective software delivery.

Benefits The annual salary range for this Sunnyvale, California position is $80,000 to $110,000. The final offer may depend on relevant skills, experience, and other job-related factors.
