Position Description:

Location - Downtown Toronto (Hybrid - 4 days office and 1 day remote)

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to drive the design, development, and delivery of scalable enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will provide strong technical leadership while remaining hands-on in frontend and backend development, API architecture, event-driven systems and AI-enabled solutions.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of scalable enterprise applications.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across frontend (Angular) and backend (Java) development.
  • Design and build RESTful APIs and microservices-based solutions.
  • Implement event-driven architectures using Kafka.
  • Develop and optimize databases using MySQL and DB2.
  • Perform API testing and validation using Postman.
  • Collaborate in an Agile/Scrum environment and track work using Jira.
  • Mentor team members and drive technical decision-making.
  • Contribute to AI-enabled solutions and leverage AI-assisted development tools where applicable.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • Strong hands-on experience in Angular (Frontend Development).
  • Strong proficiency in Java backend development.
  • Extensive experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with Kafka and event-driven architecture.
  • Strong database expertise in MySQL and DB2.
  • Experience using Postman for API testing and validation.
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Jira for tracking and managing development activities.
  • Exposure to or experience working with AI/ML-enabled systems, AI integrations, or AI-assisted development tools.
  • Proven experience leading development teams and driving technical decisions.

**CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications.

Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000-$145,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
