Job description
Requirements
Must have:
- We want someone with 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including a strong track record of designing, building, and scaling distributed, cloud-native backend services and platforms in production.
We need a technical leader or architect who has made important decisions around system design, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
We are looking for proven experience designing and owning fine-grained, policy-driven authorization as a service that other teams build against, including role-based, attribute-based, and relationship-based models, with access rules managed externally from application code.
We need deep, hands-on experience building authentication systems from the ground up using modern identity standards such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT/JWKS, and SAML, including full token lifecycle management and non-interactive flows such as client credentials and token exchange for service-to-service and workload identity.
We require strong API-first design expertise, including REST, GraphQL, and OpenAPI, with a focus on scalable, secure, versioned, and extensible APIs.
We are looking for strong proficiency in TypeScript and Python for high-performance backend development.
We need expertise in AWS architecture and core services such as EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, IAM, and S3, along with data and messaging technologies like SQS, Kinesis, Kafka, and EventBridge.
We expect expert-level knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as CloudFormation and CDK, CI/CD pipelines, and production deployment strategy.
We value a solid understanding of observability practices, including monitoring, alerting, distributed tracing, and SLI/SLO/SLA design.
We need someone who can communicate clearly, present ideas persuasively, and collaborate effectively with clients and cross-functional teammates.
Responsibilities:
- We will have you architect and evolve our cloud-native platform and services to support high-throughput, low-latency data processing, customer-facing features, and ambitious scalability needs.
You will design distributed systems that power authentication and authorization, data lifecycle management, metadata management, operational intelligence, and real-time event processing.
You will advance our authorization service toward modern identity standards and customer-configurable, fine-grained access models, including support for non-human identities such as service-to-service integrations, AI agents, and MCP-based tooling.
You will build systems that capture and enforce structured metadata at ingest and serve it through clear service contracts, while collaborating across the boundary between platform metadata plumbing and the semantic or ontology layer.
You will create governance primitives for regulated environments, including compliance-grade audit trails, dataset-level access controls, and approval and eSignature workflows.
You will partner with engineering and product teams to deliver infrastructure that supports new services, customer-facing applications, and high-volume data workloads.
You will build and maintain infrastructure as code, such as CloudFormation and AWS CDK, to automate, standardize, and secure deployments while supporting online upgrades and on-demand infrastructure allocation.
You will improve observability and monitoring so we can increase reliability, control costs, and respond quickly to incidents.
You will champion best practices in distributed systems design, scalability, and performance optimization, and share architectural guidance through design reviews and technical documentation.
