Job description

  • *LIMS/Java Software Support Engineer II – (Contract) – Remote – 2 roles
  • *Sun - Thurs 6am-3pm PT (day shift)
  • *Tues - Sat 5pm-2am PT (nigh shift)**
Biotech organization seeks a Software Support Engineer II to provide technical support within the areas of production, research and operations. This person will troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve product and environmental issues to include analyzing requirements for research requests, writing manifests for cloud pipelines, fulfilling those requests, while ensuring all results are available for researcher access. The ideal candidate will also document and maintain knowledge solutions to system issues and for reference of future resolution.
  • *This opportunity requires 6+ years working within Java, Spring framework, relational database expertise with MySQL, and infrastructure technologies like AWS/Kubernetes, also LIMS or lab data pipelines is desired.**
The ideal candidate will have performed these duties within a prior position. Opportunity to be paid 1099 or W2 (with or without benefits).

  • *Requirements
  • BS Degree in Computer Science or similar area.
  • Located in the US.
  • 6+ years’ experience performing the same skills as this opportunity requires.
  • Working knowledge of Java, Spring framework, relational database expertise with MySQL, infrastructure technologies like AWS/Kubernetes.
  • Exposure to laboratory or LIMS project experience.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot system issues and create and edit technical documentation.
  • Expertise in Groovy Scripting, Python and Web Services are a plus.
  • A willingness to learn new skills within the genetics space along with the ability to thrive within a fast-paced environment, where management of multiple tasks is a must.
  • *Responsibilities**
  • Providing technical support for LIMS and cloud-based data analytics software platform.
  • Troubleshooting, debugging, and performing root cause analysis of product or environment issues while using analysis of log files, problem reproduction, and system instrumentation.
  • Tracking and documenting all actions taken to address various product issues, while following up with internal users and clients to ensure satisfactory resolution.
  • Developing and documenting best practices for handling requests and then implementing reliable processes to better serve the client/customer needs.
  • Identifying and codifying solutions for frequent issues while documenting and scripting processes.
  • Performing other tasks as assigned by others.
  • Regularly supporting both paper and electronic forms of PHI (Protected Health Information) throughout position.
  • Completing training related to HIPAA/PHI privacy General Policies and Procedure Compliance and security training within the first 30 days of hire.
  • Maintaining the current status of organizational training requirements.
