Linux System Engineer

• BCForward is currently seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer III for an opportunity with our client.*

• *Candidate Requirements:
• *Responsibilities:
• Develop back-end services, workflows, and automation for fleet management and full server lifecycle, including network boot, firmware updates, OS provisioning, failure detection, data erase, and decommission.
• Build out-of-band server management tooling in a multi-vendor environment, including state management and telemetry collection.
• Write and review code, validate changes on hardware, and automate testing.
• Troubleshoot end-to-end issues in provisioning, firmware updates, and network boot.
• *Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in systems engineering or related roles.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in Proficiency in TCP/IP network fundamentals.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in Experience with Linux systems and server systems management.
• Ability to troubleshoot server network boot processes from both network and server perspectives.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience hands-on coding and scripting for automation using Python, Go, Rust, Bash, or Ruby.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in experience automating management of large fleets of server hardware using Redfish or IPMI.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience proven troubleshooting of server and systems architectures and components.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and/or cloud deployment technologies.
• *Preferred Skills:
• Linux or TCP/IP related certifications.
• Experience with cloud-native operations and CI/CD for infrastructure services.
• *Education/Experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a relevant field required. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Linux/TCP/IP certification preferred.
