Involved in the development of Web/Desktop/Batch applications and services including researching, designing, developing specifications for designing, writing, modifying, testing, debugging, troubleshooting and maintaining source code.
Also having director related involvement in designing related databases, user interfaces, integration to other systems/applications, content or multimedia processes.
Work includes analysis and design to post production processes, quality assurance, maintenance and documentation.Client is actively engaged in a project to convert existing J2EE applications running on Sybase to SQL Server and/or DB2 environments.
Candidate is expected to be familiar with all aspects application migration coding, testing and deployment.The developer/analyst position is in the Enterprise Application Services team which is responsible for the development and maintenance of several system wide University applications.
The small team of developers is responsible for the University of California's self-service website At Your
Service Online, Endowment Investment Accounting System and the complimentary suite of administrative applications.
Analyze business requirements and provide technical leadership and direction in design, integration and development and support existing web and batch applications.
Migrates Databases from Sybase to SQL Server and/or DB2.
Designs application architectures and oversees/performs development of Web based and batch applications.Assists the Team Supervisor in establishing standards and guidelines for both online and batch applications and assists in assuring adherence in the day to day work of application solutions and delivery.
Analyze business requirements for system modifications and develop systems solutions expressed through a technical design document to meet the user's needs.
Formulate time and cost estimates for the completion of tasks and report on status.
Education equivalent to a Bachelors degree in computer science or a related field and5-7years experience,5 of those years should be recent experience with J2EE application servers (i.e. WebSphere, WebLogic, JBoss).
Experience in J2EE frameworks including Struts, Spring, Hibernate, Web Services and JDBC along with web technologies including JSP, HTML, CSS, and XML.
Experience with Eclipse based IDE's and source control systems such as CVS.Extensive experience in cross platform solutions which utilize a variety of technologies and identifying and documenting the best technical solution for each business requirement.
Demonstratedabilityandexperienceinprovidingleadershipforapplicationsolutiondevelopment and maintenance.
Strong DBMS experience with SQL Server and project experience in migrating DBMS like Sybase to SQL Server and/orDB2 preferred.
Experience in Testing tools such as JUnit/JMeter/Load UI or other leading automated load test tools in the industry
2+years of experience with Automating UnixShell and Batch jobs.
Excellent oral communication skills which demonstrate the ability to effectively convey and explain technical information ton on technical customers.
Excellent written communication skills which demonstrate the ability to draft clear and concise specifications and documentation.
Flexibility to provide production support for installed systems outside of normal business.
