Performance Engineer

This position requires a person who is highly skilled at handling complex technical situations, provides world-class customer service, and has effective verbal and written communication skills.

Performance

Engineers are the front line leaders at SOASTA responsible for delivering performance intelligence. They work with engineering teams to define test objectives, lead performance testing engagements, and provide actionable analysis to help resolve performance bottlenecks. In addition, Performance Engineers play a critical part in pre-sales engagements, post-sales support, and in working with Product Engineering to help define the SOASTA CloudTest roadmap.

Responsibilities:

• Consult with customers to create and execute tests according to specified requirements.
• Gather customer testing requirements.
• Provide technical training to customers and partners.
• Review analytics to help clients with performance improvement
• Contribute technical repository assets.
• Conduct themselves with clients either onsite or offsite with a strong service orientation and find challenge in problem solving complex situations
• Communicate a working knowledge of SOASTA business, technology, and objectives
• Demonstrate a relationship with and working knowledge of Customer business, organization, and objectives
• Follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained
• Participate in the process of selling and communicating mutually agreed project expectations
• Up to 100% travel

Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, MIS or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 2-3 years software experience in a customer facing technical role.
• Performance testing experience.
• Ability to communicate highly technical information to business professionals.
• Excellent listening, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize workload among changing priorities.
• Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with testing tools such as LoadRunner, SilkPerformer, and JMeter
• Understanding of object-oriented programming languages (C++, Java); Experience with Javascript is a plus
• Understanding of typical n-tier application architecture (web, app, database)
• Knowledge in various operating systems: Linux and Windows are must
• Expertise with at least one common application server technology (Java, .NET) is a plus
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking (proxies, firewalls, etc.), and common web technologies (HTTP, REST, Web Services, XML, etc.)
