About the Role

BigRio is seeking an experienced Senior Full-Stack Developer to join a fast-paced, high-impact team on a contract basis. In this role, you will work directly with our client's team lead to integrate cutting-edge third-party libraries and tools — including scientific platforms such as Foldy (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory) — into an existing client platform. This is a hands-on development role that requires someone who can hit the ground running, learn quickly, and deliver results with minimal ramp-up time.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate third-party libraries and external platforms into an existing internal application ecosystem
• Develop and maintain front-end features using Angular
• Build and enhance back-end services and APIs using Python
• Collaborate closely with the team lead to understand requirements and deliver solutions rapidly
• Evaluate and implement new tools and frameworks as needed throughout the project lifecycle
• Maintain clean, well-documented, and scalable code throughout the engagement

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in full-stack development
• Deep expertise in Angular (front-end architecture, components, services, routing)
• Strong proficiency in Python (back-end development, APIs, scripting, data handling)
• Proven ability to integrate third-party libraries and external platforms into existing systems
• Ability to rapidly learn and work with unfamiliar tools, frameworks, and scientific platforms
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Nice to Have

• Experience working with scientific or research-based platforms and APIs
• Familiarity with university or research institution environments
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

Location

Hybrid — Boston, MA (required) This role requires regular on-site presence in Boston. Candidates must be based in the greater Boston area or able to commute reliably. Remote flexibility is available for candidates based in the Worcester or Springfield, MA area on a case-by-case basis.
