The individual will work with both the business and technical teams to innovate and deliver new features and enhancements for the platform.
Lead all aspects of Global Site Reliability and support projects throughout all phases of the software development life cycle.
Thoroughly understand SAAS, PAAS, IAAS concepts.
Drive technical agenda to evangelize SDLC and SRE improvements at staples.
Experience with Cloud implementation.
Experience with Agile development.Work with engineers and other cross functional teams like Product Management, Project Management, Release Engineering, Quality Assurance, Development teams etc.
to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to development goals and principles
Develop industry and product technical expertise.
Find and help fix stability/scalability issues in a very time critical environment.
Support site rollouts and be available to resolve site issues.
Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and rollout system changes
Lead Instrumentation and Orchestration initiatives, recommend improvements, mentor and guide junior team members.
Identify project risks and work effectively to mitigate them.
A BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Math, or related field with 2+ years of experience of hands-on experience managing software engineers
7+ years experience as a Software Development Engineer in Java, C++ or other relevant technologies
10+ years in Running Site Reliability function for a large scale distributed system.
Linux/Unix OS internals.
Networking concepts.
Database Concepts.
Cloud background in distributed systems.
Experience in managing project timelines, executive communication.
5+ years of prior experience and knowledge with web technologies such as HTML5, Java script, CSS, AJAX
Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including: architects, engineers, and quality.
Engineering and operations teams to build solutions.
Can effectively work with partners/customers.
Ability to design, code and test major features.
Ability to work as an individual contributor as well as in a team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong drive in ensuring code quality and leading team to do the same.
Strong Consulting skills / influencing skills.
Excellent Business acumen.
Experience in agile development.
