AmazonAmazon Security Data Engineering seeks a Software Development Manager to lead our Data Cataloging and Optimization team. You'll manage a team of software developers building the critical optimization layer of Amazon's Security Data
Lake—a petabyte-scale platform supporting Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, and Parquet formats. Your team develops distributed systems for data compaction,
re-organization, and indexing that enable data engineers across AWS, Amazon
Stores, Digital, and other business units to reduce Incident Response and Threat
Hunting times from months to minutes. This role requires deep technical expertise in building large-scale distributed systems and proven people leadership skills. You'll drive technical vision, establish engineering best practices, and grow high-performing teams while balancing multiple latency requirements from real-time batch detections to historical threat hunting across months of data.

About the team The Data Cataloging and Optimization team builds the platform layer that makes
Amazon's Security Data Lake fast and efficient at petabyte scale. We're software developers passionate about distributed systems, working with Apache Iceberg,
AWS Glue, and Parquet to build optimization systems for data compaction,
re-organization, and indexing. Our platform enables data engineers and security analysts across AWS, Amazon Stores, and Digital to investigate incidents and hunt threats—reducing query times from months to minutes. We emphasize ownership, technical excellence, and customer obsession while collaborating across Amazon Security to solve hard problems that directly impact Amazon's security posture.
Mathematics, or a related field
code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing,
certification, and livesite operations

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience,
qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life &
