Requirements

Must have:

- We want 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams - We want 7+ years of hands-on experience working directly in engineering teams - We want 3+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling - We want 8+ years of experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services - We want knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the full software, hardware, and networks development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations - We want experience partnering with product or program management teams - We prefer experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements, describe software features, technical designs, and product strategy - We prefer experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineers to strengthen their skills and effectiveness

Responsibilities:

- We will have you set technical direction and architectural strategy, balancing innovation with operational reliability across large-scale distributed search and data systems - We will have you own delivery end to end, from planning and execution through metric-based outcome tracking, for a platform serving millions of sellers worldwide - We will have you lead, develop, and grow a high-performing engineering team through hiring, mentoring, and career development in an inclusive, collaborative environment - We will have you oversee the operational health of a large-scale, multi-region infrastructure, including monitoring, alerting, automation, and incident response - We will have you drive alignment across organizations by balancing product, partner, and experience needs with technical constraints and operational risk - We will have you manage stakeholder communication and project transparency, translating technical complexity into business-focused updates - We will have you define technical best practices and continuous improvement initiatives through distributed systems design, AI-powered automation, and developer productivity tooling - We will have you reduce operational toil by building self-healing systems, automation, and tooling instead of relying on linear human scaling

We are hiring a Software Development Manager to lead a team of about 10 to 12 engineers responsible for the search, indexing, and data distribution platform behind Amazon Selling Partner inventory experiences. Our systems power inventory checks, report downloads, catalog search, listing data discovery, APIs, and bulk reports used by sellers and internal teams across all marketplaces. The platform operates at extreme scale, ingesting more than 300,000 data changes per second, managing hundreds of distributed search clusters, and serving thousands of queries per second across more than 250 clients. You will join an established team with a clear multi-year roadmap, substantial operational responsibility, and a high availability bar because these systems directly affect seller revenue.
