Software Development Manager

Requirements

Must have:

- We require 10+ years of software development experience with strong hands-on coding.

• We require 3+ years in a technical leadership capacity.
• We need advanced expertise in Java and Spring Boot.
• We need experience with microservices and REST APIs.
• We need strong knowledge of NoSQL databases such as CosmosDB and MongoDB, plus JSON.
• We need experience with JavaScript or TypeScript frontend frameworks.
• We need experience with container technologies, preferably Kubernetes and AKS.
• We need CI/CD and DevOps experience with Git-based workflows.
• We need experience building externally facing web applications.
• We expect strong secure coding practices.
• Preferred: experience in property and casualty insurance or financial services.
• Preferred: familiarity with AI/ML applied to business workflows.
• Preferred: experience scaling high-transaction systems.

Responsibilities:

- We lead and mentor a team of 6 across software development and DevOps.

• We design, build, and maintain production-ready software across backend and frontend domains.
• We contribute directly to complex feature work and system enhancements.
• We lead architectural decisions for microservices-based platforms.
• We guide the evolution of cloud-native applications in Azure, including AKS, APIM, and CosmosDB.
• We enforce clean architecture, coding standards, and performance best practices.
• We coach our engineers through code reviews and pair programming.
• We promote engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• We establish secure coding practices and a strong testing culture.
• We translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• We support delivery of customer-facing digital products.
• We align engineering priorities with customer experience and business objectives.
• We identify and implement AI use cases that improve developer productivity and customer experience.
• We drive adoption of CI/CD, test automation, and observability practices.
• We oversee CI/CD pipelines and DevOps operations.
• We partner with DevOps to improve deployment reliability and scalability.
