Job description
Position Specifics: Reports To: Service Manager Supervises: None FLSA Code: Nonexempt Purpose: Applicant will train with experienced service technicians to learn to perform diagnostic, service repairs, and maintenance work on customer agricultural equipment with a focus in application equipment repair. Ideal candidate will have reliable attendance and a strong willingness to learn about mechanics. Applicant will work/train out of the Perry, IL location but will eventually primarily work out in the field on agriculture and application equipment in the Perry/Winchester/White Hall areas.
Responsibilities: 1. Learns and performs basic diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment 2. Participates in company provided training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge 3.
Learns knowledge of John Deere and competitive products 4. Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment 5. Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion 6.
Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments 7. Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments 8. Accounts for all time and all material used in performing assigned duties Job Requirements: 1.
Basic diesel mechanic experience along with a desire to learn about application equipment is required 2. Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures 3. Proficient oral and written communication skills 4.
Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes 5. Ability to use computer applications 6. Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly 7.
High School
Diploma or equivalent experience preferred 8. Valid driver’s license required along with a good driving record 9. Must maintain a good driving record in compliance with company Motor Vehicle Records criteria throughout employment 10. Must have reliable attendance 11. Pay Information: The hourly pay range for this position is $17 to $22. This reflects a reasonable estimate of the targeted base hourly wage for this role. Based on factor such as geographic location and candidate qualifications, actual base pay is determined when an employment offer is made.
In Season Hours : Monday-Friday 7am-5pm , Saturday 7am-12pm (rotation)
Off Season/Winter Hours: Monday-Friday 7am-5pm
Off season hours are from November-March. Start and end date to winter hours is dependent on year and subject to change.
