Key Responsibilities

Database Migration & Modernization

Assess existing SQL Server databases for migration readiness

Plan and execute migrations between versions and platforms

Support on-premises and cloud-based database transitions

Perform schema conversions, data transformations, and validation

Ensure minimal downtime and data integrity during migrations

Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and vendor teams

Database Administration & Support

Install, configure, maintain, and monitor SQL Server environments

Manage Backup and Restore strategies (full, differential, transactional)

Optimize database performance and tuning

Troubleshoot production database issues

Security & Compliance

Manage roles, permissions, and access control

Implement encryption and database security best practices

Support compliance with state IT standards and regulations

Implement Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) (preferred)

Required Skills

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (experience may substitute year-for-year)

5+ years' experience as a Senior SQL Server DBA

1+ year experience migrating application databases between versions and platforms

5+ years of Backup/Restore experience

SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) experience

Experience managing roles, permissions, and encryption

Strong T-SQL proficiency

Preferred Skills

Experience implementing Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)

Database design and normalization expertise

PowerShell scripting
