Requirements
Must have:
- We require 3–5 years of experience implementing native, cloud-native, and hybrid cross-site backup and recovery approaches.
- We require 3–5 years of experience configuring SQL Server on physical servers, virtual machines, and cloud IaaS environments.
- We require 3–5 years of experience applying data protection and compliance controls such as masking, Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), and row-level security.
- We require 3–5 years of experience managing automated indexing, statistics, and database integrity checks across distributed environments.
- We require 2–3 years of experience automating hybrid setups with PowerShell, DBA tools, and cloud command-line interfaces.
- We require 3–5 years of experience identifying performance bottlenecks, rewriting T-SQL, and resolving locking and blocking problems.
- We require 2–3 years of experience monitoring performance across physical servers, IaaS virtual machines, and PaaS endpoints.
- We require 2–3 years of experience managing connectivity between on-premises SQL Server systems and cloud platforms.
- We require 2–3 years of experience working with Azure SQL Database, Managed Instances, or AWS RDS for SQL Server.
- Cloud migration experience using Azure Database Migration Service or AWS SMS is preferred.
- Experience with CI/CD and database versioning tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Flyway, or Redgate is preferred.
- We require experience in computer systems analysis or computer programming.
- We require knowledge of programming principles, systems design, computer operations, project control, cost estimating, flowcharting, database structures, and modern database technologies.
- Proficiency in PowerShell or Python is required.
- A background in SQL, database definition language, and database access control is expected.
Responsibilities:
- We review and follow organizational policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
- We analyze data and manage databases to support application and business needs.
- We design, enhance, and maintain data dictionaries, physical models, and logical database structures.
- We tune database performance and improve processing efficiency.
- We define database objects with SQL and control access using DDL and DCL.
- We establish database parameters and determine optimal settings for memory and storage usage.
- We create production databases and maintain database utility processes.
- We monitor database health, record distribution, memory availability, and overall performance.
- We coordinate with programmers and analysts to implement database changes and evaluate system impacts.
- We respond to user questions and provide technical support for data-related requests.
- We support planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems.
- We evaluate requests for new data elements and systems, then integrate them into the shared data environment.
- We manage data integrity, reduce redundancy, and reorganize databases when needed.
- We perform data modeling, prototyping, and the creation of relational and physical data models.
- We execute backup, restore, and recovery procedures following established processes.
- We assist with database security, disaster recovery, benchmarking, threshold testing, and software installation.
- We support the selection, analysis, and implementation of database management software.
- We help define standards for the data dictionary and maintain consistency across definitions.
