We are seeking a SQL DBA for our client in San Jose. This highly experienced senior IT professional is required to provide SQL Server and Windows support for the team's global infrastructure.
Working alongside fellow team members and others within the IT technical teams to deliver against key responsibilities and ensure the continued availability and development of the Windows-based services.
Migrate, consolidate, and/or virtualize significant portions of server infrastructure
Provide day-to-day support of SQL Server & Windows environment.
Provide guidance and support on advancing legacy infrastructure towards current versions.
Support the adoption and roll-out of key ITIL best practices.
Provide communications to user base for both reactive and proactive system outages.
Relevant technical accreditation or successful completion of vendor certified training (Microsoft, VMware). Strong skills in all aspects of Windows 2003 (and newer) & SQL Server 2000 (and newer) servers including configuration, patching and in depth troubleshooting.
Good knowledge of VMware / ESXi with hands-on experience including VMware Converter and multiple methods of cloning live systems
Experience and knowledge of Windows failover clustering.
Experience managing multi-domain AD forests, Group Policy, DFS replication
Working knowledge of networking concepts - TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
Excellent customer service attitude, written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact effectively with people at all levels.
Excellent "outside the box" critical thinking skills
Capacity to work under pressure.
Highly motivated to learn.
Desirable Skills & Experience
ITIL certification to the foundation level.
Appliance based Load Balancing management experience.
