Sr. Software Development Engineer (Ruby on Rails/Java)

For our client, we are seeking a Sr. Software Development Engineer (Ruby on Rails/Java) to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space.

This remote role is ideal for a senior engineer who enjoys building consumer-facing software that delivers reliable, scalable experiences in a complex healthcare environment. You will collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering partners to turn ideas into high-quality applications and modern services. The work will center on cloud-native development, microservices architecture, and strong engineering practices that improve both developer productivity and product stability.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $101,970 – $203,940 annually

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering, product, and design teams to develop innovative applications
• Use modern methodologies and open-source tools to improve development processes
• Transform ideas into functional software solutions in an agile environment
• Implement and maintain scalable microservices architecture
• Leverage AI tools to improve productivity and code quality
• Conduct unit and integration testing to ensure software reliability
• Participate in Agile and DevOps practices to streamline development workflows

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience building large consumer-facing products using Ruby or Java/Kotlin
• Technical design experience in software development
• Experience in distributed, cloud-based environments using Azure or AWS with Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot
• Proficiency in unit and integration testing
• Experience building cloud-native, scalable microservices
• Knowledge of MongoDB or PostgreSQL
