Holtec InternationalHoltec International seeks a qualified Structural/Mechanical Engineer to support its Corporate Engineering Center (CEC) with a specific emphasis on design and engineering activities related to the safe operation and maintenance of Palisades Nuclear Plant (PNP), which is located in Covert, MI and planned to restart in early 2026.
The position is offered at the Company's KPS Technology Campus in Camden, NJ, and it requires limited travel to PNP on an as-needed basis.
The Structural/Mechanical Engineer will work closely with the site personnel at PNP and other members of Holtec's CEC to implement plant design changes, respond to regulator requests, and resolve emergent engineering issues affecting the plant.
The position involves performing various structural/mechanical calculations in accordance with the plant design basis and/or nuclear industry standards, preparing detailed technical reports and engineering assessments, reviewing drawings and engineering products prepared by others, and collaborating with other Holtec associates.
Depending on circumstances at PNP, this position may also support wider engineering activities in Holtec's Nuclear Power Division (NPD) and/or Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Division as time permits.
Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering
Experience in designing and analyzing reinforced concrete and/or fabricated metal structures
Knowledge of numerical analysis methods (e.g., finite element analysis)
Capable of reading shop/fabrication, assembly, and structural drawings
Display creative thinking and analytical skills to resolve design issues effectively
Excellent technical writing and communication skills
1-3 years of professional experience in engineering related field
Prior experience in nuclear industry
Knowledge of structural design codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AISC, ACI, ASCE)
Experience using ANSYS Workbench, STAAD.Pro and/or LS-DYNA software
Knowledge of material failure mechanisms such as fatigue, brittle fracture, and creep
Knowledge of earthquake engineering and/or experience with seismic analysis methods
$90,000 - $110,000 Annually
