We are seeking a skilled and experienced System Engineer to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. The ideal candidate will be responsible for end-to-end server operations, ensuring the stability, security, and availability of server hardware and software in a large-scale environment.
This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a hybrid work environment.
Manage server operations, including OS, hardware patching, firmware, BIOS, and service packs.
Ensure 24x7x365 stability and availability of server hardware and software.
Maintain and enforce enterprise standards and security protocols.
Provide expertise during incidents and problem management follow-ups.
Perform problem resolution, root cause analysis, and implement changes to ensure system stability.
Offer consultation and technical support for lifecycle planning, problem management, and systems programming.
Implement releases, upgrades, and changes into the environment.
Monitor platform performance and availability to meet enterprise objectives.
Conduct capacity planning, workload modeling, system maintenance, performance tuning, and diagnostics.
3-5 years of IT experience supporting large datacenter environments with over 1500 servers.
Microsoft Certification (MCP, MCTP-EA, MCSE, MCSA) is a plus.
Experience with Windows Server and Microsoft infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, SCOM/SCCM).
Proficiency in Windows Server Clustering and Patch Management.
Expertise in ServiceNow and ITIL Change Management.
Hands-on experience with System Center tools (SCCM, SCOM, Orchestrator).
Proficiency in PowerShell or other scripting languages.
VMware experience is required.
Knowledge of Load Balancing Technologies (F5) and Dynatrace is a plus.
Experience with DFS and Disaster Recovery (D/R) is a plus.
Strong work ethic and excellent written/verbal communication skills.
