Job description

Job Title: OPS Systems Engineer I

Location: Phoenix, AZ (Onsite)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Systems Engineer I who wants to grow their career in enterprise infrastructure. If you enjoy keeping systems running smoothly, optimizing performance, and learning new tools, this is the perfect opportunity. You’ll work in a multi-platform environment (Linux, AIX, DB2) supporting critical production systems and ensuring uptime and reliability.

This role is ideal for someone ready to go beyond basic system administration and gain experience with automation, performance tuning, and infrastructure improvement.

What You’ll Do

Keep Systems Running Smoothly

  • Support Linux (RHEL) and AIX systems in a production environment
  • Monitor and maintain DB2 databases to ensure they run reliably
  • Troubleshoot system issues and help prevent problems before they happen
Maintain and Upgrade Infrastructure
  • Apply OS and database updates, patches, and upgrades
  • Ensure systems meet security and operational standards
  • Improve processes by documenting repeatable procedures
Automate and Streamline Tasks
  • Help automate routine tasks and batch processes
  • Identify ways to reduce manual work and improve reliability
  • Contribute to building efficient, scalable operational processes
Support Business Continuity
  • Assist with disaster recovery testing and execution
  • Maintain accurate documentation to support recovery processes
  • Help validate that recovery plans are effective
Collaborate Across Teams
  • Work closely with infrastructure, operations, and engineering teams
  • Communicate clearly during incidents, upgrades, and system changes

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in systems or infrastructure support
  • Hands-on experience with Linux (RHEL) and/or AIX systems
  • Exposure to DB2 administration (backups, troubleshooting, performance tuning)
  • Basic scripting or automation experience (Shell, Python, etc.)
  • Foundational knowledge of networking, storage, and system security
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
  • Clear communication and documentation skills
  • Interest in growing into a more advanced engineering role

Who Succeeds Here The ideal candidate takes ownership—not just of tasks, but of the systems they support. You’re someone who asks “how can this be better?” and learns from experienced engineers while developing your own technical judgment. If you enjoy solving problems, improving systems, and contributing to a team, you’ll thrive here.
