Technical Program Manager (TPM) – Pre-Sales & Delivery | Automotive / Silicon
San Diego, CA
We are seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to partner closely with Sales and Engineering to support pre-sales pursuits and post-award program delivery within the automotive and silicon/semiconductor domains.
This role blends technical leadership, customer engagement, and program execution. The TPM will act as a technical face to customers during the sales phase, shaping solutions, driving proposals, and de-risking scope and then transition into delivery ownership once projects become billable.
Pre-Sales & Sales Support
Serve as the pre-sales technical lead for automotive or silicon customer engagements
Partner with sales teams on customer discovery, solution scoping, and technical strategy
Own and contribute to RFI/RFQ/RFP responses, technical proposals, and SOW inputs
Define solution architecture approach, milestones, assumptions, resourcing, and effort estimates
Lead customer workshops, requirement discovery sessions, and technical alignment meetings
Coordinate demos and proof-of-concepts (POCs) with engineering SMEs
Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies to support deal closure
Support business case development and ROI justification
Program Delivery Transition & Execution
Develop structured handover plans to transition won work into delivery
Own program kickoff, planning, risk management, and milestone tracking
Coordinate cross-functional teams across engineering, product, and operations
Ensure on-time, high-quality execution aligned with customer expectations
Maintain strong customer relationships throughout delivery lifecycle
Required Experience & Skills
6+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager, Solutions Engineer, or Pre-Sales Technical Lead
Strong domain experience in either:
Automotive systems (vehicle software, ADAS, infotainment, embedded platforms), or
Silicon / semiconductor programs (SoC, IP development, validation, bring-up, platform integration)
Proven experience supporting pre-sales technical pursuits, including proposals and customer discovery
Ability to translate business requirements into executable technical programs
Strong customer-facing communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience coordinating cross-functional engineering teams
Comfortable operating in fast-paced, pursuit-driven environments
