Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate veterinary team. The ideal candidate will support veterinarians in providing exceptional animal care, assist with medical procedures, and ensure a safe and comfortable environment for our patients. Duties
- Assist with animal restraint and handling to ensure safety during examinations and procedures
- Prepare animals for surgery or diagnostic tests, including animal catheterization and aseptic techniques
- Support veterinary staff with laboratory procedures, sample collection, and processing
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, treatment areas, and equipment in accordance with veterinary standards
- Assist with pet grooming, pet care, and general animal husbandry to promote well-being
- Handle dog training and dog handling tasks to facilitate smooth clinic operations
- Operate X-ray equipment under supervision to assist in diagnostic imaging
- Maintain detailed records of animal treatments, procedures, and patient history using veterinary terminology
- Support veterinary critical care activities as needed, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications
Skill
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and pet care best practices
- Experience with animal restraint, dog handling, and animal husbandry
- Ability to perform laboratory tasks related to veterinary diagnostics
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Understanding of dental terminology relevant to veterinary dentistry
- Experience with X-ray operation and positioning
- Strong animal handling skills across various species including dogs and cats
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and pet owners in a professional manner
