Aaliyah Alva

I am currently a junior studying at George Mason University. My major is Business with a concentration in Management Information Systems. My plan is to graduate early December 2025 from my original graduation date of May 2026, and I am currently on track to do so.

I am very interested in the field of technology and would love to one day work for an IT company or for the government! I plan to start working towards my CompTIA Security+ certification soon as well as some other small certifications to build up my background.

Throughout my college experience, I have taken a combination of business and IT-related courses that have equipped me with a strong foundation in both fields. I've gained a deep understanding of hardware, software, and networking fundamentals, as well as cutting-edge technologies such as AI, AR/VR/Mixed Realities, Quantum computing, and more.

In my Cloud Computing course, I created a virtual machine using Oracle VM VirtualBox, allowing me to run Ubuntu, a Linux-based system, on my windows laptop. I also leveraged AWS S3 to create an object cloud storage bucket, which enabled me to design and host several websites (like the one you’re seeing now).

My proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, stems from my coursework in Business Analytics. I have developed advanced skills, including creating pivot tables, charts, using IF functions, VLOOKUP, Subtotals, Auto filters, Sort commands, Goal Seek, and calculating probabilities. Additionally, I have completed two projects that demonstrate my expertise in Excel.
