Duties and

Responsibilities

Tunnel Superintendent will be overseeing the tunnel construction activities and the responsibilities includes all safety, personnel, progress, quality, technical, cost and schedule matters.

• Overseeing the daily tunnel operations for the construction of 12 km tunnel,

constructed by means of four Slurry-TBMs with diameter 7.9 m and 4.9 m receptively

• Orchestrating the TBM tunnelling teams regarding implementation of health, safety,

environmental and quality standards to execute the TBM tunnelling works

• Supervision and training the TBM tunnelling teams to develop skills and competencies to facilitate comprehensive tunnelling operations
• Implementing the TBM Management and Monitoring Plans to meet statutory regulations, standards, and HSE requirements
• Planning of the required manpower and equipment resources for TBM tunnelling works, including labour and equipment
• Ensuring all work is pre-planned in detail through method statements and risk analysis.
• Preparation of work sequencing and interfaces with other construction activities and interfacing contractors
• Formulating of work procedures related to TBM tunneling works for operation,

transport, assembly, launch and dismantling activities

Bachelor degree.

Job Summary

• Ensuring the timely and complete preparation of all contemporary construction records and all necessary documents related to the construction process such as quantity recording, construction diary, HSE records, etc.
• Assisting in the procurement of temporary and permanent materials in a timely manner
• Assisting in the preparation of cost and schedule forecasts and control costs in relation to approved budgets
• Understands costs and budget allowances for the sections of works
• Understands the scope of the works and can identify change
• Ensuring and overseeing the professional development and progression of work force and ensure that all necessary training and briefings are identified and provided for the team
• Assisting in assessment of construction risks, development and implementation of mitigation measures including and ensuring that suitable mitigation plans are in place and monitored
• Working on continuous improvement of the TBM tunneling team, equipment and procedures
• Responsible for the transition of the works from tunneling to secondary lining operations, including assembly, test and operate hydraulic driven tunnel formworks

Skills

• More than 20 years of hands-on experience in a senior role supervising tunnelling operations using mechanized tunnelling equipment such as EPB and Slurry such as

Kawasaki tunnel boring machines.

• In depth knowledge of utilizing soil support materials such as bentonite or polymer slurry on tunnel boring machines
• Experience in leading and performing hyperbaric works on tunnel boring machines
• Experience in slurry handling and soil separation plants, including the use of additives to optimize performance of slurry treatment plants
• Knowledge of environmental requirements
• Expert knowledge of products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards in relation to TBM tunnelling
• Strong leadership, communication and conflict management skills; good organizational skills
• Team player
• Fluent in English
• Working experience abroad deferent nation

• Liaise with consultant on technical issue.
• Coordinate site issues with contractor.
• Grouting plant closely monitoring.
• Checked quality of grouts.
• Witness after sodium silicate mixing with grouting countdown by stopwatch.
• Advice and recommendation batching plant operator cube quality testing.
• Closely monitoring such bentonite, clay shock, cement, TAC RE, TEC foam etc for soil stabilization.
• Monitoring soil testing according to LTA standards soil density testing take readings
• Percentage of soil and stone.
• Accountable for Muck skip weights and disposal.
• Segment cum ring building quality check Segment gasket plywood and Segment any defects.
• Maintain progress and safety during works.

Tunnel site

• To manage all M&E site work, especially relevant to disk cutter maintenance,
• TBM assembly and dismantle, repairing of TBM electrical and pneumatic equipment and support our engineers.
• And assigned to workshop and tunnel duties, maintenance of tunnel equipment,

locomotives,

• compressors, generators, cooling system for TBM. Gantry crane, tunnel ventilation system, hydraulic
• power packs. Pneumatic and Hydraulic winces, High pressure water jack, and repair water pumps,
• Air tools, air compressors, cooling tower, concrete pumps and tunnel machine equipment
• Assist tunnel engineer in ensuring temporary works installation work such sleeper, Rail ,fish-plate, I beam columns switch, nut-bolt etc.is carried out properly and safety,
• accountable for Cement, Bentonite ,clay shock,
• TAC Bita, TAC RE, stabilizer, foam, sodium silicate, and related materials Etc.
• Confirm ring installed is carried out in accordance with planned sequence and safe manner.
• Assist and support engineers in carrying out works as assigned and ensuring that the works are .
• carried out to schedule and in accordance to relevant regulations.
• Coordinate and supervise site workers.
• completion of work in accordance to the main contractor role.Preparation and submission of site daily reports/progress.
• Conduct regular inspections & assess the work performance done by all contractors.
