My name is Alec Garcia, and I am from Hollister, California, and a U.S.

Army Infantry Platoon

Leader at Fort Benning, Georgia. I commissioned and graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a B.A. in History. During my undergrad, I was a Statistics tutor at Santa Barbara City College and was involved in Army ROTC.

For 8 years, I served as a counselor and then a curriculum trainer for the California Association of Student Councils, teaching leadership to people of all ages worldwide. Currently, I am a Platoon Leader for a One Station Unit Training Company on Sand Hill, Fort Benning, GA. Planning, supervising, conducting training, and leading the future Army Infantry mortarmen.

Infantry Platoon Leader (OSUT) at United States Army (2025-01 – Present)

• Plan, prepare, and execute training for a Basic Training Platoon (One Station Unit Training) on Sand Hill, Fort Benning, GA.
• Serve as Range Safety Officer and Officer In Charge of Company Training events.
• Leads and supports three Drill Sergeants in executing training for Basic Trainees to become future infantry mortarmen and well-rounded Soldiers.
• Facilitated the naturalization process for soldiers in my company.

Curriculum Trainer at California Association of Student Councils 501(c)(3) (2016-01 – 2025-01)

• Served as a Counselor, Counselor-Intern Trainer, and Curriculum Trainer
• Taught high school students and staff from all over the world, psychology, and education-based professional development, and leadership skills.
• Facilitated discussion and experience-based learning activities for groups of 100+
• Attended the Global Student Advocacy Summits to teach and facilitate training to help international students stimulate change in their communities or schools.
• Oversaw, taught, and coached cohorts of California high school students to create and propose legislation to the California State Board of Education in Sacramento, CA.
