My career in nursing began when I was 18, working individuals with mental and physical disabilities. My time working with this population taught me a lot about caring and accepting others as they are and not as I'd like them to be. After moving to Oklahoma in 2005 I began working in nursing homes as a CNA have worked my way up the educational ladder.

I am now pursuing my MSN in the specialty of psychiatric nurse practitioner. There have been many times that I have had to work with a multidisciplinary team to obtain the best outcomes for the residents or patients. Communication is the key ensuring that the patient receives the best care possible.

While working at the OSDH, I am the only public health nurse in this county. I provide immunizations, STI testing, Family Planning services, and all communicable disease diagnosis in the county.

In this position I provide care to residents of a rural nursing home. I am the weekend DON and work directly with the CAN's and LPN's.
