My personal visions is two-fold:
Through teaching, tutoring, and research my passion is to open up my students' eyes to the more abstract and less visible forces of society, such as social stratification, stigmatization, the self-fulfilling prophecy, latent functions, the values-fulfillment gap, role conflict, globalization, and bureaucratization, to show how their lives are shaped, and to provide a path toward increasing their freedom to take more control over their lives in order to accomplish their personal goals—and perhaps along the way to contribute to the mitigation of one or more of the world's most pressing social problems.
Through the compassionate teaching of English reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension, I enjoy contributing to the ability of people to communicate peacefully through one of the world's most used languages.
I have more than 20 years of teaching sociology at various colleges and universities, and more than 10 years of teaching and tutoring English to students at all levels of academic and English proficiency.
My most relevant education is my year-long master fellow certification course in both online and in-person instruction from the American College and University Educators and the American Council on Education.
