I am currently a Biology teacher looking to get back into my field of expertise in research.
I have been doing research in a lab as early as my freshman year of college. Starting my second year of college, I started working in Dr.
Grossel’s cancer research laboratory at Connecticut College. From there on, I devoted my time in working in different cancer research laboratories such as in Dr. Xiang-Xi’s ovarian cancer research lab at the University of Miami Miller School of medicine, and post-graduation in Dr.
Eric Lai’s miRNA research laboratory in Memorial Sloan Kettering. I also got promoted to lab manager in Dr. Lai’s lab after the previous lab manager resigned. Sadly, I left working in Dr. Lai’s laboratory due to a death in the family.
I took some time off work and went into education. I have been teaching 9th grade Biology for the past four years and I am ready to take the next step in my career by going back into research, which is where my passion is. I have a passion for the sciences with much research experience, particularly in Cellular and Molecular Biology.
I have skills with splitting cells, tissue culture, cell lysis, gel electrophoresis and western blots as well as PCR. I believe I am a good fit for the position because I have much knowledge in Biological Science, much research experience, experience as a lab manager, as well as teaching experience. I am a fast learner and work well under pressure.
My references can speak upon my work ethic and my dedication in the classroom. I hope I am provided the opportunity to interview. Thank you for your time in considering my application.
