I am an African American female who is a sophomore at Michigan State University going into biosystems engineering. I am passionate about the environment, building, creating, and improving systems. I enjoy researching and coming up with new ideas.
Even though I am going into engineering I really enjoy the natural sciences, particularly botany, microbiology, and geology. This summer I was an undergraduate researcher at Michigan State in the biosystems engineering department and I presented my project study on nutrient uptake in cattails. The main purpose of the project was to see if nutrients from access fertilizer pollutants could be absorbed by cattails and recollected for reuse.
I also helped a graduate student with her hydroponics project and picked out a selection of cover crops for Gerber Corp.
Besides my research internship this past summer at Michigan State University. I worked at a store called June and December in high school, and I had a jewelry-making business. I sold jewelry in a boutique store in Berkley Michigan.
I am currently in the second semester of my sophomore year at Michigan State University pursuing a degree in Biosystems Engineering.
