My name is Barry Jones, and I am passionate about working with children, sports, and recreational activities. I am 31 years old and have spent the past 15 years working with kids, including the last 10 years with Frederick County Public Schools. Throughout my career, I have enjoyed building positive relationships with students while helping create structured, engaging, and supportive environments.
I currently hold a master’s degree and aspire to become a principal in the future. I value leadership, teamwork, and creating spaces where students can grow both socially and emotionally.
I am interested in working summer camp because I truly enjoy working with children and helping create fun, meaningful experiences for them during the summer months. Additionally, as a father of two young children, I am looking to earn extra income to support my family. I believe my experience, positive attitude, and ability to balance fun with structure would make me a strong addition to the camp staff.
I enjoy creating an environment where children can have a great time while also learning how to work and play respectfully with others.
I am currently the Activities Director at Western High School in Florida, where I have developed extensive experience working within the school system in a variety of roles. Much of my career has been dedicated to supporting students with special needs, including working closely on Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and helping students reach their academic, social, and behavioral goals.
In addition to my administrative and student support experience, I also coach multiple sports and enjoy mentoring students both inside and outside the classroom. My background in education, athletics, and student support has allowed me to become well-rounded in addressing the diverse needs of students and fostering positive school culture.
I also have experience supporting student mental health and understand the importance of creating structured, supportive, and engaging environments where all students can succeed.
I hold a master’s degree in Educational Leadership as well as an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice. Throughout my career in education, I have completed Professional Crisis Management (PCM) training along with numerous professional development trainings related to mental health awareness, child abuse and neglect reporting, student safety, and school activities management.
My educational background and training have provided me with a strong foundation in leadership, crisis response, student support, and creating safe, structured environments for students. These experiences have also strengthened my ability to work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and community stakeholders in a variety of educational settings.
