I'm a biomedical engineer with a PhD from Carnegie Mellon and a lifelong commitment to animal welfare. I founded Pigsburgh Squealers Rescue in 2017, a 501(c)(3) sanctuary that has helped rescue more than 430 pigs. I oversee daily care for over 40 resident animals, coordinate their medical treatment and nutrition, and provide sedation-free hoof care to more than 300 client households.

I also work as a veterinary assistant at VCA Valley Vet Animal Hospital, where I use fear-free handling techniques, administer medications and vaccines, perform venipuncture, and help clients understand their pets' treatment plans. My years developing Class III cardiovascular devices at PECA Labs shaped how I work: I'm methodical, evidence-driven, and careful with documentation. Founder and Executive Director at Pigsburgh Squealers Rescue (2018 – Present)

• Founded and direct a nonprofit 501(c)3 animal sanctuary dedicated to rescuing pigs from abandonment, neglect, and emergency situations, facilitating the rescue of 430+ animals to date
• Oversee the daily care and welfare for 40+ resident pigs, coordinating medical treatment, nutrition, enrichment, housing, and behavioral management
• Develop and lead fundraising initiatives, community events, and sponsorship programs that generate $90,000+ annually to support rescue and sanctuary operations
• Educate and advise hundreds of pig owners on evidence-based medical, nutritional, and husbandry practices, while managing adoption outreach and placements
• Provide mobile, sedation-free hoof care services for 300+ client households, promoting preventative health and strengthening relationships with pigs and their caregivers

Senior Research & Development Engineer at PECA Labs (2017 – Present)

• Senior Research and Development (R&D) Engineer for novel Class III cardiovascular medical devices, including protocol development, execution, analysis, and regulatory documentation
• Collaborated with cross-functional teams to prototype and evaluate innovative technologies aimed at improving treatment options for patients with congenital heart diseases
• Lead verification and validation (V+V) engineering related to prototyping design, tooling, production equipment/fixtures, and test procedures
• Partner with suppliers, quality systems, procurement, and sustaining engineering teams to support product development and maintain high standards of device quality and reliability

Veterinary Assistant, Part-time at VCA Valley Vet Animal Hospital (2026 – Present)

• Support veterinarians during physical examinations and medical procedures through safe animal restraint, patient monitoring, and stress reduction
• Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by veterinarians
• Perform diagnostic and clinical support tasks including blood and urine collection, laboratory preparation, instrument sterilization, and exam room sanitation/management
• Serve as liaison between veterinarians and clients, providing education on pet health, nutrition, and treatment plans while coordinating follow-up care
