Bowie Ma

I am a Hong Kong-born violist and violinist currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at New York University, where I also serve as Adjunct Faculty in violin and viola. I received both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The Juilliard School.

My teaching experience began at the age of 15, when I worked as a teaching assistant to my professor in Hong Kong. I began teaching private students at 18 and later served on the violin and viola faculty at a music academy in Long Island from 2024 to 2025. My students have been admitted to prestigious pre-college programs, including The Juilliard School Pre-College and the Manhattan School of Music Precollege.

Beyond teaching and performing, I have been actively involved in leadership, community engagement, and arts advocacy. At Juilliard, I served as Co-Chair of the Student Congress and performed as a Gluck Community Service Fellow, presenting concerts in hospitals, senior centers, churches, and other community spaces.

In spring 2025, I traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina, as a teacher and mentor, working with young students from underprivileged families and performing outreach concerts for local communities.

I am also the founder of the Bowie Music Concert Series and Cross Culture Music Series Opus X, initiatives dedicated to creating performance opportunities, fostering artistic collaboration, and connecting musicians and audiences across cultures.
