Industrious University of Minnesota law grad. For the past year I have been a law clerk in a county packed with Fortune 500 companies, working on a full range of civil cases with a particular interest in civil litigation and employment law.
I have written multiple motions in limine on complex federal-level litigation, motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and statutory orders. Notably, I took on writing court trial order – the most complex orders we write, just two weeks into the job. Daily, I am interfacing with attorneys and pro se litigants to answer questions, and I also scheduling matters and using creative thinking to place upwards of ten cases on a fifteen-day trial block.
I track and update the status of our 150+ cases via three platforms daily to ensure all orders are sent out on time and all correspondence coming into chambers is promptly responded to. I work with my co-clerk to resolve technical issues that arise from remote hearings on a moment’s notice. My exposure to the Judge’s view and to multi-million dollar cross-state litigation, gives me invaluable insight into how to brief matters and compile pleadings in a way that is most helpful to the court when issuing a ruling.
As a law clerk for a solo practitioner I researched caselaw and drafted and edited complaints, motions, and briefs. I interviewed clients to determine the scope of claims and reviewed exhibits and deposition testimony to draft documents on a variety of legal issues in Employment, Consumer Protection, and Landlord Tenant. I Maintained high responsiveness to meet deadlines often less than 48hrs
