Catalin Ursu

I’m a Business Finance student at UIC with a solid blend of academic knowledge and practical experience. My coursework—spanning Managerial Finance, Operations Management, Quantitative Methods, Investments, Multichannel Retailing, Fixed Income Securities, Advanced Corporate Finance, and International Financial Markets—has equipped me with a strong analytical and strategic foundation.

Professionally, I’ve honed my skills through roles such as a Tax Preparation Intern, where I assisted in preparing tax returns and streamlining processes; as an Administrative Assistant, where I supported financial reporting and budgeting; and as a Regional Manager, where I drove operational efficiencies and cost-saving strategies. These experiences, combined with my multilingual communication abilities and leadership roles at UIC’s “CEO” club, have prepared me to thrive in dynamic financial environments.

Across my roles, I have developed a diverse skill set in financial operations and management. As a Tax Preparation Intern at ICounting Firm, I supported senior accountants by preparing tax returns and ensuring compliance, while also streamlining data entry and basic bookkeeping tasks. At C1 Transportation, I worked closely with the CFO to create financial reports, manage inventory and purchase orders, and implement budgeting and forecasting strategies—efforts that contributed to reducing discrepancies and enhancing profitability.

In my position as a Regional Manager at L.A Tan, I oversaw operations across multiple locations, driving sales growth through operational improvements, cost control measures, and strategic resource allocation.

I am pursuing a Bachelor of Finance in Business Finances and Management at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where I maintain a 3.2 GPA. My studies have covered a wide range of subjects including Managerial Finance, Operations Management, Quantitative Methods, Investments, Multichannel Retailing, Fixed Income Securities, Advanced Corporate Finance, and International Financial Markets. In addition to my academic pursuits, I actively co-lead UIC’s “CEO” club, further developing my leadership and communication skills in a dynamic, real-world environment.
