I am a Professional Librarian with a plethora of library management experience which ranges from school-aged children to adults.
Most of my Librarian career has been spent working with diverse populations of color. I have been a mentor for a number of young people throughout my career. I have found that working with people who have an interest and purpose in what the library has to offer has the biggest impact on forming positive relationships.
Making students and patrons feel comfortable around me starts with my talking with them. I try to make them feel relaxed when speaking with them by giving my full attention to whatever they are saying. Laughing also puts them at ease.
