COFOUNDER - MANDIBLE AGRITECH - Malaysia
(2025-03)
Development of tech tools to support aquaculture and insect farming – delivery of consulting and engineering projects
- Developed an app for animal nutrition (currently under beta testing)
- Created an innovative prototype applying machine-learning methods on water quality data to inform fish farm management (pre-deployment phase)
- Delivered fish farm designs for premium fish production
R&D MANAGER - ENTOFOOD - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
(2021-05 - 2025-01)
Design and management of research projects for insect farming, technical support to the production factory
- Led a team of ten
- Designed formulations to feed insects at an industrial scale
- Applied data science tools to turn complex experimental data into strategic operational decisions
- Delivered comprehensive training sessions about insect nutrition
- Presented key results at conferences and published in scientific journals
- Elected member (treasurer) within AFFIA (Asian Food & Feed Insect Association) executive committee, involvement in decision-making
- Main outcomes: increased larvae growth by 20% and reduced nitrogen emission by 30%, introduced new raw materials to double the production capacity of the insect farm
PHD THESIS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH - CIRAD, IFREMER (FRANCE) AND WORLDFISH (MALAYSIA) - Malaysia
(2017-10 - 2020-12)
Development of methods and predictors for improving individual feed efficiency via selective breeding in fishes
- Contributed to the selective breeding programs of European sea bass (European project AquaExcel2020) and Nile tilapia (led by WorldFish)
- Designed experimental protocols
- Transferred technology from North to South
- Managed a team of ten in Malaysia and internship students in France
- Analysed research data and communicated the results in international scientific journals and conferences
- Main outcomes: solutions cutting costs and duration of selective breeding by 85% in Nile tilapia, identified the most feed efficient natural population of European sea bass
INTERNSHIP FOR MASTER'S DEGREE - IFREMER - France
(2017-03 - 2017-08)
Investigation of alternative sources of protein and lipids in European sea bass diet
- Joined an industrial consortium led by Le Gouessant Aquaculture (aquafeed company) to develop a fish-free feed
- Developed an experimental protocol to compare six ingredients (insects, yeast, animal proteins, terrestrial plants, spirulina and marine algae)
- Collected, analysed and synthesised the research results
- Main outcome: insect and yeast diets equalled commercial diet performance
