About

I'm a tax and social services professional with seven years of experience in federal and state tax analysis, two years of case management with vulnerable populations, and an Enrolled Agent credential. I've built my career around two things I genuinely care about: helping people navigate complicated systems and communicate clearly when things are stressful. Whether I'm interpreting a tricky tax code provision or advocating for a client facing hardship, I bring the same steady, people-first approach.

Outside of work, I'm a rec league basketball coach and volunteer referee, I enjoy going on hikes on the trails that are spread out through Western North Carolina. Spending time with my family in the mountains keeps me grounded and reminds me why the work I do matters.

Experience

Social Worker – Case Management at Swain County Department of Social Services (2024-01 – Present)

  • Manage a caseload of individuals and families navigating financial hardship, housing instability, and public benefit eligibility.
  • Assess client needs, document case progress, and coordinate with collateral contacts, community partners, and state agencies to resolve complex multi-system issues.
  • Maintain strict regulatory compliance with NC DSS policy and state law while ensuring accurate, thorough case documentation.
  • Communicate sensitively with clients in crisis, de-escalating difficult situations and translating complex program requirements into understandable terms.

Tax Analyst at Drake Software (2014-05 – 2024-04)

  • Analyzed federal and state tax provisions, rules, and regulations across dozens of forms and schedules used by CPAs, tax professionals, and accounting firms nationwide.
  • Served as primary analyst for New York State and New York City personal and business income taxes (PIT, GCT, NYC Business Tax, UBT) — interpreting law changes and translating them into accurate software guidance.
  • Supported accounting professionals and independent CPAs during high-volume e-file seasons, providing fast, accurate technical guidance on complex tax scenarios.
  • Identified discrepancies and problem areas in tax law implementation, working cross-functionally to resolve issues before they affected end users.
  • Developed expertise in JIRA and Test Track for issue tracking, documentation, and resolution workflows.
