Financial world has been a great attract to me since my childhood. When people talk about stock or future market, they always have intense emotions such as excitement, disgust, and fear. I wonder how a system is able to have such great impact on people's life.
Before going to college, I understand the financial market using the classic fundamental analysis approach to understand the value of companies or future goods. However, the performance of Chinese stock market, which I have my most focus on, always disobey the rules of traditional security analysis. Therefore, I looked out for additional approaches.
Starting from May 2021, I use quantitative analysis to make investment, by analyzing the historical performance of all stocks. I found some the patterns of market trends and made some profits from it. Some investments are indeed contradictory to what fundamental analysis would suggest.
The trading system and algorithm I built requires me to become a patient and discipline investor, uncompromisable from emotional judgement. I grew from an inter-day investor into mid-term trader, as I become more and more interested in those with high safety margin. I also want to learn more from my college study, and short-term trading would cost me too much time.
I believe that understanding financial market trends requires much more than financial technical knowledges. Other factors such as social trends, political implications, and psychological analysis (behavioral finance) matter a lot. I'm trying find an investment approach that organically combines fundamental analysis and quantitative analysis. The methodology I use is that making assumptions from fundamental implications and proving through historical database.
