About

North Carolina attorney and law educator committed to public service, teaching, and practical legal scholarship. Nearly two decades of work at the intersection of North Carolina government and the law: six years as a sworn detective with the City of Wilson Police Department, nine years teaching law at North Carolina Wesleyan University, and a law practice that has included civil rights and employment matters for more than 100 clients and of counsel work in constitutional litigation involving state agencies. Has taught graduate coursework in Human Resource Management and Legal Aspects and undergraduate Constitutional Law and Civil Liability, trained sworn law enforcement officers and school resource officers on legal developments, and presented continuing legal education to North Carolina attorneys.

Seeks to bring that combination of practice, teaching, and public-sector experience to the School of Government, turning complex employment law into clear, usable guidance for North Carolina’s public employers.
