Led 3 development teams comprised of 22 engineers through the implementation and delivery of new functionality for an enterprise backup software product.
- Championed use of defect metrics and static analysis for software quality; significantly reduced the frequency of repository lockdowns due to quality issues and improved development velocity. Led weekly peer meetings to review quality and other shared issues and create plans to address them.
- Migrated the product from an embedded database to a scale-out database to improve scalability and performance and enable elimination of a single point of failure. Communicated status to stakeholders; acquired resources (personnel, machine, etc) for development teams and negotiated priorities and approach with owners of affected components; held the development teams accountable for their work quality.
- Implemented APIs and User Interfaces for database backup/recovery agents to support role-based authorization and deployment of backup and recovery functionality via a web-based user interface. Staffed teams and monitored their work output; managed development priorities; facilitated project planning and kept stakeholders informed.

Designed, developed, documented, and tested new product functionality and bug fixes for an enterprise software product. Development tools included C, C++, CORBA, SQL, ACE, Java.
- Significantly reduced the frequency of several categories of bugs.
- Championed adoption of test-first development; implemented a C++ unit test framework in a single header file and incorporated automated unit and component testing in build and development processes.
- Designed and led the implementation of a recovery API and user interface for VMware virtual machine data. Enabled access to a new income stream for the product and addressed competitive pressure from start-ups focused on the niche.
- Analyzed and addressed issues with thread-safety, async signal safety, character encoding, and performance.
