Derek Vinson

I am a 35-year electro-mechanical design engineer with product development and manufacturing experience. I have 25 years of experience in Solid Works (Certified Solid Works Professional). I was a CNC/NC Machinist for 15 years prior to completing college at Collin College and the University of North Dakota.

I used AutoCAD (1984-2025), Solid Edge (V-5-2025), Solid Works (2004-2025), Inventor (2023-2025) and PT Creo (1.0-16) for the past 20 years while on assignment with various companies. I have developed lighting, test procedures, wire harnesses, breathing apprentices for the medical devices business and conducted failure analysis along with vibration and thermal analysis on all designs I completed. I Develop my own designs, Bills of Materials, Assy tooling, and maintain all design changes through release into production.

I have extensive experience in supplier set up and operations/planning interface. I have Telecom, Medical Devices, Fiber Optic Connector development, Oil and Gas- Suction and Discharge dampeners development. I have heavy machine, progressive tool and die design and development experience.

I am a dedicated self-starter and would welcome the opportunity to join someone's team. In addition to this I was a 4-year infantry Marine honorably discharged in 1984.
