A recent Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Practitioner graduate from Jacksonville University. Through Dorothea’s clinical internships she aims to blend the skills she’s already acquired as a trauma unit nurse with the unique skills of compassionate counseling.
Dorothea’s desire to help others is derived from her experience growing up on a farm in the country and being of service, especially to the farm animals. She takes pride and great responsibility in being able to help those who require advocacy and environment of safety. That pride grew into a passion to work with people as a registered nurse and she has done so for the last 10 years.
Recognizing that she had more to give, she began to explore ways that she could be of further service to her community. Her explorative journey has brought her to the doorstep of mental health with a specific interest in holistic care through counseling and lifestyle changes. While medication is suitable for many clients, Dorothea believes that health is wealth and discovering your specific treatment plan is her goal.
She aims to provide a safe space for you to be honest, so that you and she can discuss in a collaborative manner how to achieve and maintain your best mental health.
Worked ten years as a Trauma ICU nurse bedside until deciding to return to scholastic advancement.
Spent clinical psychiatric hours working in outpatient setting:

Providing psychosocial and physical assessment of patients
Graduated from Jacksonville University with an MSN.
