Elias Jouppi

Originally pursuing a career in cardiovascular perfusion, I immersed myself in the hospital environment to better understand where my strengths could have the greatest impact. Through extended exposure to cardiac care and direct patient interaction, I found that I valued not only the science and technical complexity of medicine, but equally the communication and human connection central to patient care. This led me toward Clinical Specialist roles, where I can bring together my interest in cardiovascular medicine with my ability to connect with people in a clinical environment.

I combine a strong foundation in cardiovascular science with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly, build trust with patients and clinical teams, and adapt to fast-paced environments. I learn technical information quickly and translate it into practical, meaningful communication, and I bring a genuine commitment to supporting both patients and the teams I work alongside.

• Serve 50+ patients daily across endocrinology, OB/GYN, cardiology, oncology, and nephrology, building rapport with anxious patients and facilitating cooperation during time-sensitive procedures.
• Collaborate with physicians and clinical teams across multiple service lines to clarify orders, resolve collection issues, and ensure accurate, efficient specimen processing.

Surgical Observation at Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital (2025-08 – 2026-07)

• Observed 7 cardiothoracic procedures over 42 hours, including CABG, aortic valve replacement, and left atrial myxoma resection, with firsthand exposure to cardiopulmonary bypass, intraoperative monitoring, surgical equipment, and multidisciplinary OR coordination.

Exercise Physiology Program at College of St. Scholastica (2023-09 – Present)

• Conducted physiological assessments and laboratory testing, including heart rate, blood pressure, and cardiorespiratory measurements, while applying exercise physiology principles in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation to support patient recovery.
• Performed EKG analysis and cardiac rhythm interpretation, developing proficiency in identifying waveform characteristics and recognizing common rhythm patterns.

Oncology Department Volunteer at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center (2024-09 – 2024-12)

• Supported patient care in a protocol-driven oncology unit, assisting with patient transport, treatment-area preparation, and infection-control practices while contributing to a safe, organized clinical environment.

• Communicated consistently with diverse crews to coordinate physically demanding work under tight deadlines, keeping fast-moving projects organized, safe, and driving toward on-time completion.
