Hello, my name is Elijah Williams! I am currently a 23 year old Stagehand for IASTE Local #3 who works with small and large groups of teammates building and breaking down sets for local or traveling bands and music groups. As a stagehand, I've developed a penchant for flexibility, self-sufficiency, and strength as the job requires heavy-lifting.
I'm seeking more on-site experience in a job that allows me to interact with people, enhance my reliability, and grow my knowledge and responsibility in a team setting.
As a transplant to Pittsburgh, I moved here with an eagerness to learn and grow my ability to work on a team, build physical strength, and develop my self-sufficiency across various trades!
Some of the job titles I’ve worked under that have helped me build these skills include Park Attendant, Security Personnel, Construction Worker, and Stagehand.
From May 2018 to October 2020, I worked at Oglebay State Park as a Park Attendant. Amongst giving tour rides at the park, I maintained the landscaping, took out the trash, cleaned the pool and picked up food and equipment orders.
In Summer of 2022, I worked as security for the Mattress Factory during events and fundraisers put on by the venue. I learned the importance of protecting the safety of my teammates and event-goers, but as a highly social individual I was seeking a role with more interpersonal interaction.
From May to June 2023, I did construction as a deck builder for Decks, Decks, Decks which included carpentry, labor, cleanup, and inventory. Working as a laborer allowed me to build up my strength and tolerance for working long hours while understanding the importance of safe building practices amongst a team.
From August 2022 to present, I work as a Stagehand with IASTE Local #3 building and breaking down sets in PNC Park, Heinz Field, and PPG for musicians on international tours. I really enjoy this work as I get to develop my time-management skills and flexibility by being quick to adapt to instruction and make good use of self-management while growing alongside my team members.
In my spare time, I’ve gotten the pleasure of doing local photography for independent local venues with audiences anywhere between 50-200 people. This has always kept my mind sharp and let me explore a creative and social outlet that I'd like to engage at more job sites if possible!
Originally, I came to Pittsburgh as a Film major at Point Park University. While this sparked an interest in story structure and nuanced discussion about different world views, my experience was rounded out by self-education taking photos at small events in Pittsburgh and around the city.
For the jobs I've done that include manual labor, I have learned how to move effectively in my role by learning different skills from roadie stagehands. Some of these skills included adapting to tight deadlines and developing a confidence in my work ethic and efficiency.
