My ultimate career goal is to become an emergency physician assistant and the path to get there will be rough but not impossible. Before arriving at my desired destination, I plan on making positive changes along the way. My current goal in progress is to work as an emergency medical technician to gain clinical experience and make a positive change in my community.
My professional experiences align well, as I have performed exceptionally well in my science classes, garnered experience in high leveled pressure jobs, and have deep patient care experience. My previous experience includes working at CSL Plasma and Banner Health Thunderbird as a skilled phlebotomist. This work experience has provided me with deep knowledge regarding proper patient care and helped me develop efficient work performance.
My volunteer experience includes three hundred hours volunteering at the Mexican Red Cross as an emergency medical technician assistant at the clinic and in the ambulance. The clinic allowed me to develop better patient care by properly collecting vital signs, administering medication via intravenous and intramuscular under supervision, and creating strong bonds with my companions. The ambulance exposed me to an incredible experience where I worked beside paramedics and fellow EMTs. This opportunity allowed me to witness how prehospital care is carried out and how each branch of medicine is critically important for a patient’s survival. I also had the fantastic opportunity of being a volunteer at Children’s Phoenix Hospital for 50 hours where I was able to float around the hospital and provide the small patient's joy and companionship.
