Erin Baer

I am currently a Resident in Counseling and expect to gain full licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia by summer of 2025. I treat adults and older teens and specialize in trauma, anxiety, OCD (specifically, body-focused repetitive behaviors), and identity development. I am trained in EMDR and a variety of other trauma-focused interventions and modalities, and use these regularly with clients.

I especially like working with military and veterans, military families, and first responders.

I maintain a full time client load of 20-25 adult and teen clients per week with diverse and complex treatment plans, under weekly clinical supervision. Treatment methodologies include polyvagal theory, person-centered, EMDR, ego-state/IFS, CBT, narrative, and creative arts. My demographic focus areas include military and veterans, first responders, only children, young adults, and older teens. Areas of interest and specialties include trauma, military and military families, anxiety, body-focused repetitive behaviors and OCD, Parenting Challenges, adoptees, ADHD, infertility, career transitions, Identity development and "adulting". Administrative tasks included maintaining schedule, clinical notes, and billing information using TheraBill, creating detailed treatment plans, providing supporting documentation as needed, maintaining and updating templates, and coordinating client care with outside providers.

I worked with multiple clients to support their mental health goals, help them to achieve balance and gain insight, and for some, to help heal past traumas. I co-led a counseling group for parents of teenagers. Demographics served include adults, and teens, and tweens from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Areas of focus include complex trauma/PTSD, dissociation, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ challenges, substance use, chronic health conditions, and eating disorders.
