Gabriel Sanchez Canizalez

I am a first-gen, Latinx MA graduate from Cal State LA's Communications Studies MA Program. I am originally from El Salvador and have been in the US for over 2 decades. My lived experience has not only helped me immensely in my educational journey, but has also helped shape my teaching philosophy.

California State Univesity, Los Angeles - Graduate Assistantship Sept 2024 – May 2026

• Assisted professor with grading assignments such as discussion posts, essays, bibliographies, peer evaluations, and video presentations as well as inputting said grades into the gradebook or any other grades needed to be inputted.

• Sent emails and conversed with students about things they needed help or clarification with throughout the course as well as being an intermediary for students and the professor.

• Assisted students in English 101/103 in sessions held throughout the week. I went over topics such as thesis statements, how to properly research for research papers and quote integration. Also, fluent in using Zoom.

• Constantly met with professors to assess how students are progressing and what students currently need to succeed. As well as constantly met with supervisor to debrief sessions and attended trainings bi-weekly.
